Varun Biniwale

Hey! I’m Varun, a 🇮🇳/🇨🇦/🇨🇭 high school student passionate about software engineering and cybersecurity. My journey into computers started at the age of 7, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

The time I accidentally hacked every school in the world*: (skip to 7:37 for the fun parts)

I lead a coding club at my school and have helped teach children robotics at a workshop. In addition, I am currently co-leading the organization of my third officially licensed TEDx event for my school.

I run several free services, including Quickz, a Kahoot alternative used around the world. I created an animation creation tool called Flopbook, a social network, and a live chat system. I have also worked on Scratch, an educational block-based visual programming website for children, initially as an external contributor and later as an engineering intern on the Scratch Team.

I actively participate in bug bounty programs, identifying and helping fix security vulnerabilities in software from major organizations such as Google, YouTube, Meta, and MIT’s spin-off Scratch Foundation. My work has been referenced in the media including The Verge, TechCrunch, Digital Trends and Ars Technica.

You can find me on LinkedIn or reach me via email at varun@varun.ch.
